Tali and Shepard's Citadel Date Fanfic
The Citadel was a complete mess. Buildings still had holes in them. The blood of the fallen still covered the walls. But people still lived on as though nothing had happened a few weeks ago, they still went to shop at the local stores, they still went to see the new Blasto movie, and they still gossiped about John Shepard's relationship status.

Maybe he's into Asari, thought some.

Maybe he likes only humans, hoped others.

But they were all wrong. He did not enjoy any of those as mates. No he had preferred the most unbelievable of choices. He had preferred Quarians. Specifically Tali Zorah vas Normandy.

Unfortunately no one but a few of the crew of the Normandy SR2 knew about this relationship. The rest of the universe was completely oblivious. They still tried to get with the Universe's Hero.

This angered Tali to no end. Being forced to watch countless of humans and asaris come up to her love and flirt with him. To place their skin on his while hers was trapped inside this accursed suit. To be able to look into his crystal blue sea eyes without having a helmet in the way.

But what was she to do? Her people were the scum of the universe, always looked down upon by the rest of the universe. This had never bothered her before, until she started dating John. A quarian, the same species that unleashed the Geth and had their planet stolen from them for so long, dating one of the most powerful human in the universe, what would the universe think? She feared they would criticize their relationship, or even abandon Shepard from fighting the Reapers. John assured her that it would never happen as she thought it would and that if it happened anyway he would still love her.

She continued these thoughts as she waited for her nutrient paste to arrive. She had grown hungry while thinking and decided to fill her stomach. She had managed to discover a restaurant that actually served Quarian foods that was on the Presidium Commons. Suddenly her thoughts were interrupted when a Quarian brought her her food. He placed the tube on the table. She thanked the waiter and went back to studying her thoughts, occasionally stopping to eat.

Soon she noticed a shadow looming where she was sitting. She looked up to be met with two crystal blue eyes filled with joyous look, looking directly at her.

"Is this seat taken beautiful?" he asked motioning to the empty seat across from her.

" I don't know, that Quarian waiter has been giving me looks the whole time I have been here, I thought I might invite him over for a drink" she replied in a humorous tone.

"I hope you brought another emergency induction port with you," he responded with a grin on his face.

"You Bosh'tet" she laughed out as she hit him on the shoulder. He winced at the 'pain' that had been inflicted on him by Tali.

Suddenly her laughter had died as soon as it came and this worried Shepard. He looked at her and noticed her gaze was directed to the table to their left. His eyes followed and came to see what had caused her to stop her beautiful laughter. It was the sight of 3 women giggling and pointing at where Tali and him were sitting.

Thanks to the Lazarus project his hearing and other senses had been enhanced allowing him to over hear what the woman were talking about.

"Is that Commander Shepard over there?" asked the woman in red.

"I think that is him! I would know that face anywhere?" asked the woman in purple.

"But whats he doing here, and especially sitting with that quarian?" asked the woman in blue.

"I don't know, maybe their friends?" asked the woman in purple.

"Well who cares, its not like she has a chance with him. Me on the other hand..." started the woman in red as she began to fluff up her hair, suggesting the other woman that she had the beauty to seduce the great Commander Shepard.

This had been enough for Tali who stood up and ran out of the restaurant. She had been listening in on the conversation by enhancing her listening devices in her helmet, he guessed that is what happened because of past experiences.

This drew attention from the whole restaurant, who turned towards the direction of the fleeing Quarian then to Shepard who was closely following Tali.

Eventually Tali stopped her running in one of the parks. Shepard had finally caught up to her to hear her sobbing through her mask.

"Tali whats the matter?" he asked as he pulled her into a hug.

"Its just not fair" she managed to say in between sobs.

"What's not fair?"

"The fact that no one can know about us being together. The fact  that I'm constantly watching woman talk to you or about you as if you are single. You are mine, and I can't even show it!" she managed to shout out to him.

Suddenly it hit him. The whole time he had been with her he had never shown his affection publicly. He had always been reserved when it came to girlfriends and never cared about showing his affections publicly, like with dates and making out with them at the movies. This had probably caused Tali to believe that he was ashamed of her, something that was far from the truth. He had nothing but love and admiration for Tali. She had helped her people with so much and received so little her people, the universe, and him.

"Tali I'm sorry, this is all my fault." he stated as he tightened his grip on her.

"How is it your fault?" asked Tali who was shocked to hear Shepard admit that.

"It's just that I've never shown my affection publicly with any girl I've been with including you. But your different from the rest because you bring the light I need in my darkest hour. I'm so sorry Tali."

Tali stepped back to look into the eyes of the man she loves, only to see those bright blue eyes filled with sadness and pain. The same pain that had been there when he had left Kaiden to die on Virmire, and when he had destroyed the Batarian system to give the universe more time. Now he was blaming himself for her pain, she couldn't let that happen.

"It's not your fault John. You were raised to be a soldier from a young age and I was raised to be a good engineer. Both of us were never given a chance to have social lives because we had to focus on helping others."

Shepard looked past her visor and into her silver eyes, analyzing what she had said to him. Several silent moments passed before Shepard responded.

"I think it's about time we change that and be selfish for a little while."

"What do you mean John?" asked Tali looking towards her now grinning boyfriend.

"Tali'Zorah vas Normandy would you like to go on a date with me?"
This is a fanfic I wrote during my testing week and I decided to post it. There will be a second part to this one soon.
I would also like to thank QuarianGypsy for giving me the idea to write this story. She draws some awesome pictures of Shepard and Tali and you should check her out. This is her page [link]
Please Read and review.
Oh and I own no one in this story or universe. They belong to Bioware.
